The story behind the shells

Dallkaf is the studio of Dalal Almoqadem, an artist working from Alexandria, Egypt. Every piece begins the same way: a walk along the Egyptian coast, and a shell worth keeping. Dalal gathers each one by hand, cleans and cures it, then paints it in the studio: no prints, no molds, no two alike.

Because the sea never makes the same shell twice, we never make the same piece twice. Work leaves the studio in small batches, wrapped by hand and shipped anywhere in Egypt with cash on delivery. When a piece finds its home, it's gone for good, which is exactly the point.
